Dr. Vasant P. Gandhi is Ph.D. from Stanford University, MBA(PGP)from IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA), and B.Sc. Agriculture from Pantnagar, being a Gold Medalist at both IIMA and Pantnagar. He has been teaching MBA and PhD courses at IIMA for over 30 years and is currently Visiting Professor of Agribusiness at IIMA. Formerly, he was Professor and NABARD Chair Professor at IIMA, as well as Chairman, Centre for Management in Agriculture, and Founder Chairman Post-Graduate Programme in Food and Agribusiness Management, which is currently ranked no.1 in the world. He was also appointed to the Board of Governors IIMA.

Dr. Gandhi has worked earlier with the World Bank in Washington and with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in Washington. He has been Visiting/Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney, James Cook University and University of South Australia. He has produced a number of books and nearly 200 research papers, on topics ranging from economics, finance, food & agriculture policies, technology adoption, water resource management, marketing and agribusiness - which are very widely referred.

A well-known management expert and economist, he was recently bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award by his alma mater, G.B. Pant University Pantnagar. He was also elected President of the prestigious Indian Society of Agricultural Economics in 2020.He has been consultant/advisor to the central government and to different state governments, as well as to various companies and international organizations. He has been on the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Irrigation, and is on the Board of Directors of several well-known companies.
