The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has announced a Central Sector Scheme on National Agricultural Market to network 585 regulated markets through e-portal during the next three years. The integrated network of markets will provide farmers and traders access to opportunities for purchase/ sale of agri-commodities at optimal prices in a transparent manner across the country. The market operating at national level is envisaged to facilitate seamless flow of goods and information. The National Agricultural Market in the long-run will facilitate integration of large number of markets across the country, along with functions and services like banking, insurance, warehousing and others

The National Institute of Agricultural Marketing has been associated with the Scheme as ‘Knowledge Partner’ to create awareness about the benefits of the Scheme amongst different stakeholders. The ownership by the Stakeholders and their willingness for learning operational processes is fundamental to success of this Scheme. NIAM will organize awareness programmes and customized training programmes for wide range of stakeholders on various aspects of the Scheme like operations, benefits and requirements in collaboration with other National/State level Institutes. The Institute will also provide expert support to the participating states and facilitate the Department by providing policy support.
